Vaser Liposuction At A Glance

Vaser liposuction is a surgical procedure that targets stubborn fat deposits in various areas of the body. For suitable candidates it can remove unwanted fat from areas including the lower abdomen, upper abdomen, flanks, thighs, and arms. If you're struggling to reduce your excess fat with regular exercise and a healthy diet, Vaser liposuction may be the treatment option for you.
Average Procedure Time 1-4 hours
Anaesthetic Type Local with sedation
Hospital Stay Day
TIME OFF WORK 1 week on average depending on multiple factors
Average RECOVERY 6 weeks

Benefits

  • Potentially Less Invasive: Utilises ultrasound technology to target excess fat cells in each treatment area, potentially causing less trauma to surrounding tissues.
  • Recovery Time: The recovery period can vary, but depending on multiple factors including the size and number of areas treated, patients can often return to daily activities within a week.
  • Stimulates Collagen Production: The ultrasound energy may enhance collagen production, potentially leading to better skin tightening and improved texture post-surgery.
  • Versatile and Effective: Capable of targeting various body areas, from larger zones like the abdomen to delicate regions like the chin, making it a fat removal treatment option for suitable candidates.

Potential Candidates

Considering having Vaser liposuction and wondering if it’s the right choice for you? If you identify with the following, you may be a candidate for Vaser lipo.

  • You’re looking to target specific areas of stubborn fat rather than overall weight loss.
  • You’re in good overall health.
  • You are at a stable weight and are committed to a healthy lifestyle to maintain results.
  • You have good skin elasticity, which helps it conform to the new contours after fat removal.
  • You don’t smoke – candidates must quit or refrain from smoking before and after the procedure.
  • You’re not pregnant or nursing.
  • You understand that Vaser lipo is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise and should have realistic goals for the procedure.

What To Expect From Vaser Liposuction

Consultation

During the initial consultation for Vaser liposuction, you’ll meet with one of our qualified doctors. This is a crucial step where your medical history, current health status, and specific goals will be thoroughly discussed.

A Levant Cosmetic Surgery doctor will assess whether you are a suitable candidate for Vaser liposuction and provide a detailed explanation of the procedure. This is also the time for you to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have about the process.

Pre-Op

Before the actual surgery, there are important preparations to be made. You may be required to undergo various medical tests and evaluations to ensure you are physically ready for the procedure.

We will provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions, including guidelines on fasting and medication. You’ll also receive information on what to wear and any specific preparations needed for the day of the surgery. It’s crucial to closely follow these instructions to ensure a smooth and safe surgical experience.

The Procedure

On the day of the Vaser liposuction procedure, you’ll be administered anaesthetic sedation as determined by your doctor.

The Vaser liposuction technique involves the use of ultrasound technology to liquefy fat cells in the targeted areas. An incision will be made, and a thin probe will be inserted to remove the excess fat using suction via a cannula.

The duration of the surgery will depend on the extent of treatment, the specific areas being addressed, and your individual needs, but on average, you can expect surgery to take between 1-4 hours.

Aftercare & Recovery

Getting Home

You will be required to be collected by a responsible adult to stay with you for the remainder of the day and overnight. Even if you feel normal, your reaction time will be slower after receiving sedation medication.

Aftercare

  • After your procedure, you’ll receive comprehensive post-operative instructions for a smooth transition home.
  • We provide a 24/7 contact number for any post-surgery questions, ensuring you can always reach us.
  • Your post-surgery care will be overseen by your doctor, supported by our dedicated care team.

Immediate Post-Procedure

You’ll be released into the care of a responsible adult family member or friend.

An overnight hospital stay is not required.

Full recovery occurs around the 6 week mark, with full results evident in 6-12 months.

How Much Does Vaser Liposuction Cost?

We recognise that the cost of cosmetic surgery is a significant consideration for many patients. However, it’s important to note that liposuction expenses cannot be standardised into a one-size-fits-all flat fee. The cost of undergoing Vaser lipo varies among patients and is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to:

  • The number of areas undergoing treatment.
  • The quantity of fat cells to be removed from the targeted areas of the body.
  • The type of IV sedation utilised.
  • The duration of time spent in the operating room.
At Levant Cosmetic Surgery, prices for Vaser liposuction begin at $5,500 for the initial area.
Additional areas are charged at a smaller rate starting from around $2,000.
An "area" can refer to the lower abdomen, upper abdomen, both hips, or both upper inner thighs, for example.
Prices are a guide only and will vary from patient to patient. Book in for a consult for a personalised quote.
Why It Pays To Choose A Qualified Doctor

Choosing the cheapest option is rarely the best choice, especially in healthcare and cosmetic procedures.

Cheaper prices often mean lower quality, safety risks, potentially short-lived results, lack of personalised care, and the possibility of additional costs for corrections.

Prioritising quality and expertise is key to better outcomes and overall satisfaction.

Vaser Liposuction Treatment Areas

Vaser liposuction is a versatile procedure that can be performed on various areas of the body to reduce excess fat. Some commonly treated areas can include:

  • Tummy/Abdomen: To remove stubborn stomach fat from both the lower and upper abdomen.
  • Flanks: Helps reduce the appearance of excess fat located in the flanks and waist area.
  • Back: Targets unwanted fat deposits on the lower back (near the lower bra line) and upper back (above the upper bra line).
  • Arms: Excess fat removal from the underside of the upper arms also known as the triceps area.
  • Buttocks: Used to remove fat and decrease buttock size, alternatively fat can be added to the area with a fat transfer procedure to increase the size of the buttocks.
  • Thighs: Effective for fat reduction on the upper inner and upper outer thighs, as well as the front and back thighs.
  • Inner Knees: To remove the small fat pockets located to the side of the knee on the inside portion of the leg.
  • Calves/Ankles: To reshape the lower legs, aiming to produce a more balanced leg contour.
  • Lower Face/Chin/Neck: To eliminate small pockets of fat in the delicate areas of the face, chin and neck.
  • Male Breasts: Gynecomastia surgery can help reduce breast size in males.

Doctor approved areas of the body can be effectively targeted with Vaser liposuction, offering noticeable changes in body contour and shape for suitable candidates.

Vaser Liposuction FAQs

What are the risks and potential side effects of Vaser liposuction?
All liposuction procedures - including Vaser lipo - have inherent risks and side effects to consider before surgery. These potential side effects may include bruising and bleeding, fluid build up beneath the skin, persistent pain and swelling, uneven appearance, unsatisfactory results, changes in skin sensation, and risk of infections, blood clots, or skin burns. It's important to discuss these concerns with your doctor before making a decision.
How much fat can be safely removed with Vaser liposuction?
In Australia, there's a maximum limit of five litres of fat that can be safely removed in one liposuction procedure. If more fat needs to be addressed, multiple sessions will be required, which can be discussed during your consultations.
Can fat removed with Vaser liposuction be transferred to other areas of the body?
Fat removed with Vaser liposuction can be transferred to enhance other areas of your body, including Fat Transfer to the Buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift) or Fat Transfer to the Breasts. These procedures utilise your own fat for size enhancement in the desired areas.
What can I expect regarding loose skin after Vaser liposuction?
After Vaser liposuction, skin tightening can vary depending on individual factors, including pre-existing skin elasticity. The procedure may enhance skin tightening in certain individuals, but these results will differ. Patients with higher skin elasticity may experience firmer skin, while those with less elasticity may notice some excess loose skin in areas like the abdomen.
Will I have scarring?
Scarring is a natural outcome of surgery, and the incisions made for Vaser liposuction typically fade over time. The visibility of scars varies among individuals, influenced by factors such as skin type and scarring history.
Is Vaser liposuction suitable for obese individuals?
Vaser liposuction is not intended for treating obesity; it is not a weight loss surgery. However, at Levant we can offer Mega Liposuction for suitable candidates considering treatment options to remove more significant amounts of fat.
Are there non-surgical alternatives for fat removal?
For non-surgical fat reduction, we offer CoolSculpting, a non-invasive option to reduce fat in specific areas of the body. It’s only suitable for certain patients and to learn more about this treatment we offer complimentary consultations.

Sometimes when patients come to us, they are looking for a lift or rejuvenated appearance but not yet ready for a surgical change. This is where silhouette soft threads may be a suitable treatment option.

Silhouette soft threads provide two main benefits;

Instant lift - With a thread lift, you'll walk out of our clinics with an instantly lifted and tighter looking appearance. That's because a thread lift involves the placement of dissolvable threads underneath the skin. Once inserted under the skin, the threads are fixed to certain points of the face and then pulled upwards to immediately lift the skin.

Long term results - The threads contain poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is naturally broken down by the body over time. These threads works to gradually stimulate new collagen production. This results in a plumper & more youthful complexion that lasts for approximately 18-24 months, as the PLLA naturally dissolves.
